Join me to explore the soothing world of hand embroidery. We will study the fabrics, threads, tools, and a number of basic stitches to help you enhance your current sewing projects. From baby bibs and quilts to textile art projects, embroidery can add depth, texture, and intrigue to the final product.

Beginner (or a refresher for those who haven’t done embroidery since childhood)

Simple leaves and Flowers

Introduction to Hand Embroidery – Part 2

After the basics of hand embroidery have been learned, it is time to build on those basics and learn how to create a variety of flowers and leaves that can be used for home décor or textile art.
This is a skill development course not a project class.
You will learn 7 different flower techniques and 7 different leaf techniques, as well as a variety of optional variations. It is recommended that you have taken a basic beginner’s class or have experience with the basic stitches.

Date: Sept 21,  9:30 – 3:00 (1/2 hour break for lunch)

A stunning block of the month (BOM) from one of our favorite quilt designers. An 11-month BOM with two seasons to choose from – Northern Winter or Northern Summer. Or choose a colourway of your own. Each quilt version features 9 unique blocks in a beautiful, subtle northern setting all framed by simple pieced borders that reflect on images symbolic to living in a north location – no matter how ‘north’ you are!

Class Requirements unless otherwise instructed.

You need to bring:

Sewing machine, ¼” foot, rotary cutter, mat, rulers, scissors, seam ripper, pins, thread, filled bobbin, Best Press, open toed foot, hand needle, (walking foot if required), and sharp pencil.

Fabric may need to be precut. Check with teacher.
